Applicants must have:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
  • Completion of sufficient units by the end of the current academic year to transfer to a 4-year college or university in the Fall of the following academic year.
  • Intention to enroll as a full-time student at the 4-year college or university the student has been accepted or has applied.
  • Willingness to participate in a personal interview, if selected.

Preferences:

  • Demonstrated community/volunteer services
  • Residency in Monterey County
  • Evidence, such as statements in reference letters or applicant’s statements, that may provide insight into the applicant’s commitment, drive, ability to overcome obstacles, organizational skills, problem solving skills, leadership, and other attributes that may demonstrate the likelihood of success in complete their degree program and achieving their career goals
  • Acceptance to specific 4-year college or university by the time of the in-person interviews
  • Evidence of likelihood that student will complete degree program
  • Students who are likely to return to the local community after graduation
  • Career/professional goals that may align with AAUW’s mission of advocating equality for women and girls, such as those in STEM pursuits, social services, teaching/coaching/mentoring, and health
