Men's Institute for Leadership and Education Scholarship

PURPOSE:
. The MILE scholarship is designed to increase the leadership capacity, workforce skills, college enrollment, and college completion rate of men.

Program elements include:

  • Leadership Training: Three day training to develop critical life skills such as budgeting and communication.
  • Mentor Program: Community leaders serve as MILE Mentors and provide guidance and support to scholars.
  • Scholarship Award: At completion of Leadership Training, students receive a $1,250 award. An additional $1,250 is awarded upon completion of the quarterly mentor workshops.

To qualify for MILE, students must apply in the Spring. Student applications will be selected based upon academic achievement in context of adversity, financial need, and leadership potential. Other eligibility requirements may apply.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a current Hartnell student, currently enrolled in at least 9 units who plans on being enrolled at Hartnell for the 2023-2024 Academic Year
  • Maintain enrollment in at least 12 units each semester (DSPS students may qualify for reduced course load)
  • Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher

Applicants must be able to participate in:

-Leadership Workshops being held (must attend all):

  • August 15, 2023: 9:00am-3:00pm
  • August 16, 2023: 9:00am-3:00pm
  • August 17, 2023: 9:00am-3:00pm

-Quarterly Mentor Meetings taking place on (must attend all):

  • October 14, 2023: 10:00am-2:00pm
  • February 24, 2024: 10:00am-2:00pm
  • April 27, 2024: 10:00am-2:00pm
