Andrew Newton

Andy Newton had more than 35 years of involvement in STEM education at Hartnell Community College and served as the director of the Hartnell Science & Math Institute, the MESA (Math Engineering Science Achievement ) program and the Hartnell College Planetarium. He was also charged with overseeing Hartnell’s nationally recognized STEM summer internship program, which he established in 2006. Under his direction, the Hartnell Science & Math Institute became known for its partnering prowess and its ability to develop science talent by exposing students to research early in their development.

Impact

The Newton Family University Pathway Scholarship reflects the Newton Family’s on-going belief in opportunity without boundaries or borders. The award is for students who face challenges to their educational success due to residency or immigration status. The Newton scholarship is unique in that it provides assistance to students that may have limited access to many funding sources and awards.
